Sparkling Moments

Today I gave my first adult talk ever! A whole 14 minute talk on Gratitude, and from the comments after sacrament meeting I feel like it went well.  I thought it would be a whole lot harder, but once I got started I actually almost enjoyed being up there and talking about Gratitude.  I am grateful for the opportunity I had to talk on gratitude (practice what you preach right ;) ) Then since nothing worth writing about happen to me this week besides the talk I now decide to share a memory.  Prom was yesterday for RHHS and as I was driving home from work I saw many passing cars filled with curls and tuxes.  It made me think about all my sparkling moments of prom.  I loved dressing up that much, even though the whole dancing scene was never my thing, I did enjoy the other parts of prom such as the dinner and seeing everybody looking their best.  I always wished though that I had had a prom like Drew and Jessies.  I am a simple person and did not like the big group thing every year I went.  I liked that they just went with each other with no times or schedules to go meet with other people for group shots or reservations with a huge group.  They went when they wanted, left when they wanted and enjoyed each other company's the best, because and I can say this now,  they ended up together because there wasn't really anyone else they wanted to share that sparkling moment with.  But here are my sparkling moments=)  They go in order.

Countdown

Twelve days of work left and 16 days total! I cannot even begin to explain how anxious I am to go back to school.  I feel like my brain has turned to cornbeef itself with how many reubens I have made during my duration here at home.  I know I won't be home for a really long time and this will probably be the last time that I do live at home and though I will miss it so much I am ready for the next chapter in my life.  I am so anxious to start school (I know this is incomprehensible to those who have just barely finished finals) But stressed out learning is better than no learning!  To mark each day I get closer to this next chapter I have made a fun little countdown at my work, and so it begins-12....11....10....

Again

I am sure that everyone who reads my blog is completely tired of reading about soccer but this information was too good to not write down and record.  So as you may know that I have been coaching the J.V. soccer team this year as I did last year too.  I enjoy coaching for most the part, but the season is nearing the end so on Friday we had our last home game against Ware Co.   Unfortunately they have a small program and only had 9 J.V. girls, so we played 9 vs. 9.  Their keeper had to be their assistant coach just because they had no other options (their assistant coach was like me, just a college kid filling her time)  But about halfway through the first half one of their girls got hurt and did not come back on.  At half time their coach walked over to where we had convened and told us that unfortunately his player would not be able to go back in.  Then Coach Kollman suggested that I play on their team.  I was ecstatic! I ran to my car (as a person who loves soccer I always have an extra pair of cleats in my car) and grabbed my cleats while Coach Kollman got me a white jersey and socks.  A player from the Varsity squad gave me their white shorts and the reff waited on me.  The Ware Co. coach put me on as a left outside mid and I was able to play the entire half on their team.  OF course my girls thought I was a complete traitor ;)  But it was sooo much fun! I wasn't allowed to score and there was one play where I got a break away and had to wait for the other forward to catch up to pass it to her.  I had so much fun and it was my first time playing since my surgery in December.  It was also the first time that I have ever played without my ACL brace on in three years, and my leg felt soo good.  I was definitely sore after the game, but I have not had that much fun in a while.  I haven't played on that field since my sophomore year of high school...and Lisa rolled her ankle so she wasn't able to play that night at 7 so it was funny because mom and dad came to watch Lisa and ended up being able to watch me instead =)

Dates and Sisters

We are celebrating "Mom appreciation" week while she is out in Utah visiting new little Caroline for the first time and though we miss her and want her to come back ASAP her absence gave us the opportunity to spend quality daddy-daughter time.  Last night Dad took all three of us to this true southern seafood restaurant in Midway, Georgia, called Captain Joe's.  The dinner was nice and the company even better! Dad told us some stories of when he was in college and his weirdo roommate Greg who almost died because of a dream and other stories of all of his roommates.  I remember when I turned 16, which is when I could officially start dating, he took mom and me to a nice restaurant and afterwards told me to not go out with anyone who treated me less. It was really fun to go out on a daddy-daughter date even though there were all three of us (Mormon-style) =) just kidding, but I appreciate the new memory.

Being home for such an extended period of time has allowed me to hang out with my two little sisters more, I assume that this will be officially my last time living at home and so even though I am anxious to go out I think of that and I am grateful to be home with them.  I love them so much! They have such different personalities but we all get along together so much.  I look forward to when Katie finally graduates high school and we can all spend time in Utah all together again.  They really are my best friends and I am so grateful to have two such little sisters even if at times they drive me crazy, but what are siblings for.

Colorful world

I have been feeling really colorful lately, perhaps its all the vibrant colors of spring, but I decided that our house needed some added color too.  So with my handy-dandy chalk I added some color =)  I do not think my dad felt the same way seeing as how he hid the chalk in the pantry the next day and I had to ask for it back, but it did make me smile.

I have also been feeling very crafty, I think I am just trying to fill my time while I "patiently" wait out my time until I go to school...so with the help of Jessica I have been able to work on a few things.  Right now I am trying to make a t-shirt skirt, but with the top of the shirt I was able to make a bib for my new niece Caroline.  I am really proud of it as it is my first project with no pattern and it did not turn out so bad.
