Stop this Train.

I cannot even believe that a year has gone by so fast! I can remember really well just to a year ago what happened on this day.  I'll recap, I woke up (I was currently living on the extremely comfy futon(thanks to Jessica) at Drew and Jessie's as I waited for my final semester at BYU-Idaho to start) and had Etta take me to Saratoga Spring where she took me shopping and bought me a shirt and then to the doctor where he told me I had retorn my meniscus and would in fact need surgery in December.  Then I went out to lunch with her to Mimi's Cafe and then back to BYU campus where I met up with Jordan and hung out with him and his roomies for the rest of the evening.
It was a good birthday.  Now this year, definitely a little bit different, but still good.  I went to work at 8am to 11am, then found out I got the new job as a seamstress.  Then to class and then to my first open lab (holy mother of earth anatomy is going to be hard).  Then I went shopping with Meagan and bought a shirt and then afterwards Drew and Jess took us out to Brick Oven then back to their new place where we watched the game and the Republican convention and had delicious  vegan cupcakes.  I just cannot  believe that a year has flown by, there was no way that I would think I would be attending BYU just a year ago and that I would be enrolled in Anatomy.  I am so grateful to friends and family who made the birthday a great one, even though I am far away from home.

Turning 21 is weird because even though I keep getting older, I still feel like the young girl playing soccer, getting dirty by playin outside all day, poking fish guts, ect.  I just do not feel as old as I am... aging is going to be a weird experience and I do not know if I like the whole idea of getting older, "I am too good at being young."  Here is a song by John Mayer that expresses getting older and kind of the fear and unsureity of it as a young person.

Here are some of the gifts I recieved from friends and Drew and Jess.
Jessies side of the gift, with enviormentally friendly grocery bags, smiths gift card and a card and then there is drew's contribution to the gift....

Junior Year

This is for momma, since I couldn't be at home to take my awkward first day of school photo on the front porch I decided to do my own =)
Love you momma, this is your lulu on her first day of her junior year in college!

956 N. 900 E.Apt. #4 plus family

This past week I finally got all moved into my new place.  It is Chathamtowne homes right on 9th and right next to Park Plaza (which is where my padres met, so fingers crossed ;) ) Moving places is not fun, but when you are finally moved in it is nice and so now I look forward to a new semester with new possibilities, endless hours of studying, new faces, fun soccer games and of course the chance to make memories.

Also, as long as I can remember Meagan and I always talked about rooming together when we both got to college and both got in to BYU.  Well finally, after probably 15 years we finally get to. It is going to be soo much fun!

Ramadan

This past week I went with my friends to go break the fast with the local Muslim community in Provo at Ramadan.  It was actually a very neat experience.  Muslims fast all day and then eat only at night and break their fast with prayer, recitation, and good food!  To start we had a prayer said then we ate dates, hummus and pita bread.  The we all adjourned to another room where they did their uniformed prayer and it was really neat, I can only imagine actually being around all the millions and millions, because it was pretty powerful with just the 30 or so Muslims. Then we went back to our tables for rice, meat, vegetables and dessert.  It is really interesting to be a part of another religions tradition, and to know that essentially we all believe in a greater being where it is Allah or God.
The people I went from the left to the right is Gabe, Tyler Phillps, and Tyler Haws (apparently he is a big basketball player out here and I had no clue so when I first met him I asked him what his name was and he said Tyler Haws-well thinking it was weird he gave me his first and last name when he asked me mine, I responded, "I'm Lori Barnes".  I should really get to know BYU a little bit better so I know who are "star" athletes so I do not look like such a dope. =) )
But it was a really fun evening and a great experience.
