One Year!

Warning: Gushy lovey dovey stuff included.

Zach and celebrated our one year anniversary a few days ago.  I cannot believe that a year has gone by! It went so fast. Marriage is infinitely better than dating and single life.  I really cannot believe how lucky I am, and I cannot believe how long it took me to realize how wonderful my life would be when i am with him.
With that said, it took me 2 and a half years to finally date Zachary and marry him.  So bare with me as I tell you our story in a summarized way.

Zach and I met at a pick up soccer game in May of 2011, he had been home from his mission for about 3 weeks and was as awkward as they came.  But with my persistence I finally got him to talk and joke around with me while we played.  After the game I asked him if he wanted to stay later and continue to kick around (side note: I was going on dates with this other guy, but desperately wanted to stop going out with him so Zach showed up at the right time).
We stayed and talked for about an hour and then on the way home we got one another's number and instantly became best friends.  We hung out almost every day and every now and then would go out with friends on group dates.  But I did not want to steady date so we remained friends.
Here is us on one of our group dates... our very first picture taken together.  So young!

On our offtracks we would always skype and stayed in touch.  But eventually I got into BYU.  Zach was really excited for me and I was too, but I wasnt sure what was to become of us, so I just assumed friends and so did Zach.

A few months into my BYU adventure Zach started dating a girl named Brittany.  He called me the night he asked her out and told me he would rather tell me over the phone than me see in on facebook and he told me that we would not be able to talk so much anymore.
After we hung up I just started crying.  I was so sad and I wasn't sure why...if I wasnt going to date him why couldnt he date others.  But needless to say that that relationship did not work out.

So after a couple months of not talking he called me up and said that he and Brittany had broken up and that he would like to come down and see me for my birthday.

The brilliant gift he got me ....

Not dating yet, just went out to temple square
So after we had talked and hung out for a while we finally decided to start dating!!
First video of us dating!
First picture of us dating =)

The next 10 months were spent traveling across Idaho to Utah or Utah to Idaho to spend our very short weekends with one another.  It was very difficult, but we had so much fun together! Here are some of our pictures while we were dating (and i know that perhaps most of you have seen these, but oh well)

After our masquerade ball

The first time I may have realized I loved Zach.  The story of this picture is that Emilie, Zach and I got the flu one night and this is the after picture of it (you can tell by Emilies face how miserable she is) But when I first threw up Zach hopped up and cleaned it up even though about 10 minutes later he got sick...if that isnt love I am not sure what is!

I traveled up to see Zach one weekend...he is very tired because of dating and school and work

As you can see we had no shortages of good times together.  It was so much fun from day one.  But in June Zach came down and we started to talk about where we were headed.  I wanted to avoid the subject all together, but Zach needed to know and we needed to talk about it.  But I just didn't know what to do, so right there in Rock Canyon park Zach proposed to me the first time.  I said no and we broke up.  I was very sad.

Here is the facebook conversation we had after we broke up...dont make fun either! I was distraught!

    True Story

  • When Zach and I broke up Lisa came down and spent the weekend with me...such a good sister!

  • So very sad as you can see. So after talking to some people and thinking about what I really wanted I went up to Rexburg surprised Zach and on that Sunday I proposed to him.  Then a few weeks later he officially proposed to me.
  • Officially engaged!

    Dorky engagement picture!

So with five weeks to go to the wedding everyone got to work (thankfully so) I got married to my very best friend which I kinda knew he was all the way back to May 2011, I just wasn't brave enough to realize it. I love him and I am so grateful for this wonderful life we get to spend together and for the forever we have.

  • super nervous and needed gum to calm my nerves

    FINALLY!

    Forever.
Extra special priveledge. So on the way to the temple. Zach rode with his family and I rode with mine and Emilie filmed him as we were about to go to the temple.  I did not know this and did not see this video until 3 months into our marriage, but I think it is so cute! No making fun though because he was shy to let this on my blog.
  • SO sorry for the long winded post about us, I just thought everyone should know what a trooper Zach is =)
