Name Change and Soccer Games!

I had the hardest time with changing my name! I just did not want to do it and tried to convince Zach multiple times how Barnes was such a good last name, not necessarily any better than Pasche but just that it possibly was the best last name out there.  But to no avail... he did not become a Barnes and I became a Pasche.
So off to the Social Security office I went and had a good 2 hour wait.  During that time I started to think about what I wanted my name to be.  Do I want it to be Lori Barnes Pasche? Lorianne Pasche? Lorianne Barnes Pasche? Lori Anne Pasche?  or Lori Anne Barnes Pasche...quite the delima as you may see, but when I went up to choose my next name for the rest of this mortal life I settled on Lori Barnes Pasche.  I love my name, Lori Anne Barnes, and the thing that I realized is that I wasn't really getting rid of Lori Anne Barnes I was just becoming a little bit better.  So even though I am officially Lori Barnes Pasche, I will always be Lori Anne Barnes Pasche, I did not lose who I was by changing my name or my identity or anything I did when I was a Barnes.  I simply became a little bit more by adding something wonderful into my life (Zachary). =)

(First official package just to me under my new name)

Well Zach and I are already back into soccer.  It is crazy how little time we spared not playing, it is where we met and to be honest I bet it is where we will be when we die.
But Zach is on three teams this semester.  He plays for a club team called the Dragons, a competitive team called the Vikings and on an intramural team called something but I forget.  I am on two teams, I am also playing competitive and I am also on the Vikings (girls only though) and I am on the same intramural team as Zach.

So getting back into the swing of things I went to watch Zach's first club game. It was against other dragon players and some alumni, so it wasn't a formal soccer game, but still very fun to watch! Here are some of his clips...they don't do him justice but you can get the gist that he is really very good. (im not bias at all either ;) )

(Unfortunately right as Zach shot the camera ran out of battery, but he did make the goal)

Honeymoon!

So once I get all the pictures from the wedding I will post those, but just to set the record straight, even though it is backwards in my blog, we got married first and then went on our honeymoon ;)

Whenever I went to a wedding I would always wonder how it felt to finally get in the car with your new husband or wife and realize you were finally alone and it was all over.  I really liked being the one in the passenger seat as we drove off and found to feel quite normal.  I felt like we were heading off on just another date.  I also found it to be relieving and all at once the exhausting...weird how being the bride can make one so tired.  But our wedding day went perfect.  Besides the heat of the day there is not one thing I would change so thank you so much to everyone.  It was just soo great.  We loved the intimate dinner after the day with just our family, and just everything else, so thanks!

Anyways we got to our first honeymoon spot and just kind or laid on the king size bed, we were both so tired that it was really nice to just lay down.  (Side note: Zach had originally just got a normal room, but he told the clerk that it was our first night married and the nice clerk upgraded our room to an executive suite for no extra cost)

We had original plans to stay two nights in the Le Meridan, but I was anxious to get to the beach house asap so we packed up and left.  It was a nine hour drive, but it went a lot faster than a usual nine hour drive went... perhaps it was the company ;).
We arrived at the beach house and went for a quick walk at the beach and then back to the house and found that Drew and Jessie had left us a lovely surprise to create the ambiance of the place as "honeymooners"

Thank you so much! The glow in the dark stars were an added surprise and were very fun =)

We spent only 4 days at the beach which we spent mostly just going to the beach enjoying, seashell collecting, boogie boarding, swimming and laying in the sand.

One day though we got up, sat on the porch that morning and then just decided we were exhausted so we spent the entire day laying on the couch watching movies, truly embracing the spirit of honeymooning.

Another day we woke up and even tried to cast net, but we were not very good at it, we only caught one pokey pin fish...well ZACH only caught one, I did not catch a dang thing....

After the beach we would go home and take a quick nap and then go out at night.  My dad recommended a seafood restaurant to eat at and when he told us the name of it we were very apprehensive, seeing as it was named "Sanitary", but his recommendation proved to be a very good one.  The food was very fresh southern style fish.  We got broiled flounder, fried clams and shrimp and some sides and we demolished it! It was so good!

 BEFORE:
 AFTER:

We then went to the dock and enjoyed the wind and the beautiful sunset.  There were a few rigs set for king fish (maybe that is what they were looking to catch) But no one was catching anything much.

We had a wonderful time, and we were very sad to leave, thank you so much grandmother and papa for letting us use the beach house.  It was so great! Thanks!

And of course before leaving I had to take Zach to the famous Pizza Inn. =)

Engaged!

So sorry that is has been a while, but July and August went by really fast and I was far too busy.  But on July 29th Zachary and I finally got engaged! This, if you know me, was quite the accomplishment.  While our story could take up pages to tell, I will give you brief version.  We met May 2011, Zach had been home from his mission for only about 3 weeks when we met so he was definitely awkward, but I being the persistent person I was decided to talk to him.  We became best friends instantly and hung out almost every day during Spring term 2011. When we came back to BYUI for the fall we still were good friends, but I did not want to date him and he was mad at me so he did not want to date me anymore so we just stayed good friends. During the offtracks we would skype and then when I got into BYU he was very excited for me.  We still talked each day as I would walk to the BYU laundry (Work) each day and then he got a girlfriend so we stopped talking. And of course (otherwise there would be no story to tell) they broke up and we started talking again and then in October after much anxiety and debating we decided to go ahead and give our relationship a chance. (Sorry this is old and the sound cuts out)
I was always worried that if we did start dating that it would end one of two ways: The first being that we would indeed get married and the second that we would break up and I was not ready for either.

So we dated long distant, taking turns traveling from Rexburg to Provo or from Provo to Rexburg just so we could spend the short weekends together before returning back to our own schools four hours apart for work and school. (Miserable 10 months, long distance is the worst)

But then at the end of June Zach came down and after a long serious talk decided to give an impromptu proposal at rock canyon park.  I literally ran away from him yelling "no no no no no".  He returned to Rexburg that Sunday and on the following Wednesday we broke up.  I was so upset, but also knew I wasn't ready to get married so I thought I had made the right decision, but after many calls to parents and siblings and really no sympathy or comfort from them I decided that I had made the wrong decision.  Every one counseled me to seriously think about my choices.
So after about 3 weeks of not talking to Zach I went up to Rexburg to surprise him and see how he would take it....well needless to say it went great.  That Sunday I came home, I talked to my parents, my dad counseled me, then I called Zach and I unofficially proposed to him.  Then on July 29th after my bridal shower he OFFICIALLY and finally proposed to me. =)

Happy 4th of July!

I am so grateful to live in this country and for all the blessings that living here in America has given me.  I know that this land is divinely appointed, I know that without this great land that the gospel would not have been able to be brought about.  Granted it is sometimes hard to see the values that our forefathers fought for in todays world, but I know that this land is a great and blessed land.  I am so grateful for those who served way back when to now to preserve the values and freedoms that were so established long ago.
I hope yall enjoy this little clip =)

Dadda Day!

Happy Dadda day! I am so grateful that you are my dad, I know this is a day late, but I just want you to know that I am so grateful for you, thank you so much for being such a good example for what I should expect.  Thank you for always loving me, thank you for always supporting me at whatever sport I tried or for that matter whatever I tried and thank you for working hard so I could try anything.  I love you dad and I think you are so great =)

Sister!!!

This weekend I was lucky enough to have Lisa come down for the weekend.  It was so much fun! I am glad that she was willing.  Well she got here around 1:30 on Friday, and I took off work early and after she dropped everything off we went straight to hike rock canyon trail.  It is an easy trail, but it was beautiful and a nice day for a walk.
This was actually the exact spot we had taken a picture only a few months earlier...we both much prefer the sun to the snow =)

We then went back watched a movie then went out to eat at Slab Pizza, fed the little duckies at the Duck pond and later saw the Croods at the Dollar theater.
The next day we woke up early and went to a tri-stake activity at 7 peaks which is a large water slide park.  We got free entrance, breakfast and tubes so why not! We only went on a few rides, before the lines got to long and then we just floated in the lazy river.

We mostly got around on my scooter so hence the helmet picture.

After seven peaks we came back to the house and while lisa did homework I took a long nap. After I woke up we went to Zupas for lunch! Soooo good =)

After lunch we watched a little bit of Hercules and then Lisa took a nap and I made delicious snickerdoodle cookies.
She woke up around 5ish then we took showers got read and went to the BYU soccer game with David Bradley and his roommate Brad.  It was so fun, even though Lisa and I decided that the mens team was not all that good and that Zach's competitive team at BYU-I could actually give them a run for their money, it was still a really fun game.  At half time Brad and I decided to participate in the half time activities.  It was couples relay the first relay was a wheelbarrow race (we won) and the second relay was a crab walk, let me tell you I was the fastest crab walker, I was told that by the other girls, but Brad was sooo slow and so that other guy (see video ) came out of nowhere and won but we got second and then the third race was which boy could kick the ball closest to the girl, well since Brad was a football player we lost that, but overall we got second place and won BYU bumper stickers which will be so useful for the car I do not own....

Then later that night we went country swing dancing and had so much fun! Love it! But that has been our weekend and unfortunately Lisa has to go back today, but I am so glad that she is my sister and that we could hang out this weekend =) Good memories.

"A River Runs Through It"

A couple weeks ago I went fishing with some friends next to a running river.  I am not sure if I have actually ever caught a fish my self on a moving river but for sure it has been a really long time since I fished in fresh water.  It is weird how different fishing off a boat in the sun is compared to the shore line on a river.  Fishing on a boat out in salt water you just set the line and float until you see the top of a fishing pole bob down and voila! you hooked one.  Fishing in salt water you also use live bait or at least once alive bait, but on a river you cast (usually catching a bush or tree from the shore, or maybe that is just me) but you cast with no live bait, it is just a bright colored lure with a hook.  But you cast and then as the line floats down the river you reel in slowly and somehow the fish actually fall for a little plastic lure and hook.  It is so crazy! I much rather fish off the side of a boat or the side of pier with no chance of pulling up a stick, green weeds or catching a bush on the shore, plus on a boat you just get to wait in the sun, but on a river you actually have to constantly reel.  Miss the ocean and miss the fishing trips with dad, and i miss the occasional sting ray...weird i know, but it was always a mystery to what you caught in the ocean and in a river there just aren't as many options, but again, as fun as it was i miss the normal fishing trips with you dadda!
