October 2018

I started off the month by listening to General Conference and making my first ever batch of cinnamon rolls. It went fairly well and I feel like I am one step closer to being a "better" homemaker ;).

Earlier in the summer I was able to find tickets super cheap out west to Utah and Idaho. So i decided to take my first alone vacation to see Lisa and Katie. Unfortunately, the trip started out horrendously. With a 13 hour delay in my home airport.( Frontier is the worst first of all. They would only update the departure time an hour or two at a time so I really could not even go home.) So after an emotional, exhausting day of "should I stay" or "should I go" and having to rebook my flight three times I finally departed and landed in Utah at 1 am the next day.
After a short shuttle ride the next morning I made it Rexburg. What a strange feeling that was! I walked down memory lane. Strolled through halls I used to work in and study in, visited places where I met Zach, where I found out I was pregnant (yes, I did find out on campus, as I worked and had school all day that day but felt funny all day) and where I told Zach and many other memories. It was so strange and a little sad to be there without him. I have fond memories of BYUI because of him so I did not like being there without him, but luckily I  didn't spend a lot of time on campus and mostly just hung out with Lisa.

I was able to meet my very first roommates for lunch! 8 years later, Devyn with her three kids, me with my one and Ayla with one. It was fun to catch up indeed and glad we could all spur of the moment make it happen.

I was able to get together with my old boss and some of her shop girls for a dinner. She is a remarkable human being and I miss her and I am so glad that I could spend time with her as well.
After a few days spent in Idaho Lisa and I drove down to BYU to visit Katie Jo! Again! Talk about memory lane, some fond memories and some not, but I was glad to see Katie and hang out with my sisters.

We also spent time with family and met Meghan's fiance (Welcome to the Family!) it was a lovely evening!
After a week and two days I headed home and was glad to be with my husband and baby again!
The next day after being home we headed to the NC State Fair.

Rides are a whole lot more fun with Dad as a riding buddy.

And then our last October events were of course Halloween activities. Pumpkin carving, story time dress up, and trick or treating.

Drew, Jess Naomi and Vivi were also able to come down for an impromptu trip. We miss being so close to them but glad they are willing to make the time to come see us! We just need to go see them next time!

Halloween Party 2018. With some people in our ward who lived in apartments and needed a place to trick or treat!

People always tell me how amazing it is that I sew our costumes with no pattern, but I must say that I think the amazing thing is the willingness of my husband to participate in family costumes each year.
