Organization

I was talking to mom the other day and we got on the topic of being organized.  I told here that I have a calender in the kitchen that is my calender and I put up all the appointments, schedules, tests, ect. on it. Then next to Zach's side of the bed I put up his calender so that he could do the same if he wanted.  Well I being mom's daughter,  I am extremely organized.  And once I concoct a plan I intend it to happen that way.  Zach is way more flexible than I and the difference between us in the organization realm has taken some getting used too.
Anyways back to talking to mom, I was telling her how organized I was and how I would come up with a plan and Zach on the last day at the last minute would suggest something different and that it would drive me crazy! Well turns out Dad does the same thing and mom told me to get used to it.  But she also told me that it was a good thing because if both of us were crazy planners then I don't think we would have ended up together, it is good to have a little flexibility in life.  I need some especially because I have a hard time changing my plans, but I am grateful for Zach who shows me it is ok sometimes to allow things to just happen when and how they happen.

I read a funny little list once that sums up this post.  It was a list of differences between men and women and it said that when women have kids they know where they are, where they need to be, when they will be home, and what they need to do.  And when a man has kids he is vaguely aware of shorter people in his house who eats his food.

Now to explain the pictures.  My calender has looked like this through almost the entire year.  So Zach feeling left out decided to write down stuff to do on his, but literally that is what he wrote =)  I just thought it was funny so I am sharing =)

Christmas Party

I have never been much of the party planner type, but since this past semester I have become a lot of things (wife, chef, responsible adult ;) ) I thought I would have a go with planning a Christmas party with some of our friends.
Even though it was not a huge decorated affair, nor was it planned down to the minute I think it turned out just dandy.  Everyone who we invited came (all 18 people) and everyone brought something to eat and a white elephant gift. So though it was a successful party I don't really think entertaining is for me (I did not pick up that gene from Grandmother unfortunately, You are soo good at it!)
But again it was a fun night.  We had a round of White elephant which my won gift included a creepy Russian doll and a jock strap and then after the white elephant some of us played a board game and  some just talked and ate.  Here are some pictures:

Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving was far better than last year for multiple reasons:  One Zach and I are married =) (that makes life infinitely better)  Two, Lisa got to spend it with us and she always makes anything more fun, Three, We did not get the flu from the squirts, Four, We got to spend a ton of quality time at Christie's with her, Tyler and the kids.
Zach and I spent Thanksgiving day itself with one of his mission companions, Marcus, his wife and his entire family.  It was a very loud, boisterous, fun and fulfilling day, there was tons of good food and company.  The rest of the time we spent watching Christie's kids, which was just an enjoyable and just a tad bit more exhausting.

Since Christie has moved she now lives very close to the Tranverse Outlets so one day, Lisa, Zach and I walked down to the mall.  On the way down we took the "less traveled" route which included fence hopping.
Once there we spent time window shopping, sitting by the fire and looking at the very large Christmas tree.

(I am the one behind the camera)
But besides going to the mall for the afternoon, eating Thanksgiving dinner, hanging out with kids and going to see Hunger Games: Catching Fire, we mostly just relaxed.  During the this time of no schedule I was able to reflect about what I am grateful for.  I am grateful for a hospitable older sister and her husband (even when she bosses me around ;) )  I am grateful for kids, they make everything so much more lively.  I am grateful for family, I love having Lisa around.  I love my parents and everything they taught me, especially the rule of hard work and how it can pay off.  I am grateful for Peter and Jill, who allow us to crash at their place constantly.  I am grateful for Drew and Jess who do everything above and beyond the call of duty.  And I am grateful for Katie Jo, who I wish would hurry up and be brilliant, graduate early and come out here =).  Again I am just grateful for my family.  I love you all.  I am grateful for Zach's family, who raised him to be who he is today and his sister (who we missed dearly this thanksgiving year).

(These are just videos from last year's Thanksgiving, but they have Emilie in it)
(So athletic our cousins are ;), love you all!)

Lastly and surely not least I am grateful for Zachary.  I love him and I am grateful for his patience and his persistence,  without either we wouldn't be where we are today.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Our first Christmas

Growing up we usually had to wait until after Thanksgiving to put up a Christmas tree ( an agonizing wait, so I believe that to be the reason I do not really care for Thanksgiving all that much) but anyways, we had to wait until after Thanksgiving to put up our tree.  But we usually did the day right after. And then the day after Christmas the tree would go back into its box and be left there until the next day after Thanksgiving, because after the presents and all the excitement of the tree was gone the tree seemed very sad.
But in Zach's family things were done the exact opposite.  Mrs. Barbara would wait until almost Christmas Eve to put up and decorate their tree and then will not take it down till almost the end of January! That was such a bizarre concept to me.  So this year when I realized Thanksgiving would not be until the end of the month  I could not wait.  So much to the dismay of the Pasche side of the family (I know because when Zach called and told them I was decorating for Christmas they were very surprised and asked what happened to Thanksgiving...) I put up our first Christmas decorations!
and of course seashells as an ornament =)

I was going through all of my pictures yesterday and deleting a lot (most were still from high school, so it needed a good cleaning!)  And I came across this videos of Drew after his graduation from BYU, so enjoy =) Congratulations again Dew-bie.
Side Note:  I apologize for the length of time between my posts, something was acting up and I think I finally fixed it so when you look at my blog today there may be a few posts, so just scroll down.

Name Change and Soccer Games!

I had the hardest time with changing my name! I just did not want to do it and tried to convince Zach multiple times how Barnes was such a good last name, not necessarily any better than Pasche but just that it possibly was the best last name out there.  But to no avail... he did not become a Barnes and I became a Pasche.
So off to the Social Security office I went and had a good 2 hour wait.  During that time I started to think about what I wanted my name to be.  Do I want it to be Lori Barnes Pasche? Lorianne Pasche? Lorianne Barnes Pasche? Lori Anne Pasche?  or Lori Anne Barnes Pasche...quite the delima as you may see, but when I went up to choose my next name for the rest of this mortal life I settled on Lori Barnes Pasche.  I love my name, Lori Anne Barnes, and the thing that I realized is that I wasn't really getting rid of Lori Anne Barnes I was just becoming a little bit better.  So even though I am officially Lori Barnes Pasche, I will always be Lori Anne Barnes Pasche, I did not lose who I was by changing my name or my identity or anything I did when I was a Barnes.  I simply became a little bit more by adding something wonderful into my life (Zachary). =)

(First official package just to me under my new name)

Well Zach and I are already back into soccer.  It is crazy how little time we spared not playing, it is where we met and to be honest I bet it is where we will be when we die.
But Zach is on three teams this semester.  He plays for a club team called the Dragons, a competitive team called the Vikings and on an intramural team called something but I forget.  I am on two teams, I am also playing competitive and I am also on the Vikings (girls only though) and I am on the same intramural team as Zach.

So getting back into the swing of things I went to watch Zach's first club game. It was against other dragon players and some alumni, so it wasn't a formal soccer game, but still very fun to watch! Here are some of his clips...they don't do him justice but you can get the gist that he is really very good. (im not bias at all either ;) )

(Unfortunately right as Zach shot the camera ran out of battery, but he did make the goal)

Honeymoon!

So once I get all the pictures from the wedding I will post those, but just to set the record straight, even though it is backwards in my blog, we got married first and then went on our honeymoon ;)

Whenever I went to a wedding I would always wonder how it felt to finally get in the car with your new husband or wife and realize you were finally alone and it was all over.  I really liked being the one in the passenger seat as we drove off and found to feel quite normal.  I felt like we were heading off on just another date.  I also found it to be relieving and all at once the exhausting...weird how being the bride can make one so tired.  But our wedding day went perfect.  Besides the heat of the day there is not one thing I would change so thank you so much to everyone.  It was just soo great.  We loved the intimate dinner after the day with just our family, and just everything else, so thanks!

Anyways we got to our first honeymoon spot and just kind or laid on the king size bed, we were both so tired that it was really nice to just lay down.  (Side note: Zach had originally just got a normal room, but he told the clerk that it was our first night married and the nice clerk upgraded our room to an executive suite for no extra cost)

We had original plans to stay two nights in the Le Meridan, but I was anxious to get to the beach house asap so we packed up and left.  It was a nine hour drive, but it went a lot faster than a usual nine hour drive went... perhaps it was the company ;).
We arrived at the beach house and went for a quick walk at the beach and then back to the house and found that Drew and Jessie had left us a lovely surprise to create the ambiance of the place as "honeymooners"

Thank you so much! The glow in the dark stars were an added surprise and were very fun =)

We spent only 4 days at the beach which we spent mostly just going to the beach enjoying, seashell collecting, boogie boarding, swimming and laying in the sand.

One day though we got up, sat on the porch that morning and then just decided we were exhausted so we spent the entire day laying on the couch watching movies, truly embracing the spirit of honeymooning.

Another day we woke up and even tried to cast net, but we were not very good at it, we only caught one pokey pin fish...well ZACH only caught one, I did not catch a dang thing....

After the beach we would go home and take a quick nap and then go out at night.  My dad recommended a seafood restaurant to eat at and when he told us the name of it we were very apprehensive, seeing as it was named "Sanitary", but his recommendation proved to be a very good one.  The food was very fresh southern style fish.  We got broiled flounder, fried clams and shrimp and some sides and we demolished it! It was so good!

 BEFORE:
 AFTER:

We then went to the dock and enjoyed the wind and the beautiful sunset.  There were a few rigs set for king fish (maybe that is what they were looking to catch) But no one was catching anything much.

We had a wonderful time, and we were very sad to leave, thank you so much grandmother and papa for letting us use the beach house.  It was so great! Thanks!

And of course before leaving I had to take Zach to the famous Pizza Inn. =)
